Paolo Arrigo is the founder of Seeds of Italy and author of 'From Seed to Plate'. He was bought up in the Italian way, in the garden, in the kitchen and at the table. He shares his immense knowledge of how to sow and grow beautiful vegetables and the amazing diversity of seeds available to him through Seeds of Italy in his master classes at Thyme
He is passionate about growing vegetables, preserving and cooking from scratch and using regional ingredients. Every region of Italy has its own unique seed varieties which, like its recipes have been handed down through the generations. They are not varieties which can be found worldwide, or are globally available, instead they have a unique regional heritage. The amazing range of climate and terrain in Italy means there are seeds that grow in many different environments. In fact, Italy is 70% alpine with temperatures reaching at times -30oC. As a result some Italian seed varieties are actually extremely hardy and well adapted for our temperate British climate.
Paolo will inspire you with his knowledge, experience and infectious enthusiasm.
