The Southrop Village Fête took place on Saturday 12th June. There were the regular array of stalls and attractions (splat the rat, coconut shy, tombola, hook the duck, children’s playground, teas and cakes, strawberries and ice creams, a hog roast, Pimms tent and the locally renowned duck race).
Southrop’s is a quintessential village fête and one of the most impressive in the area (it raised more than £10,000 pounds in 2009). It’s staged within the grounds of the Manor, in the heart of the village and is usually a great day out for the whole family. There’s also the chance to win some fabulous prizes in the Grand Prize Draw, which in previous years, have included an autographed football by David Beckham and one of 10 places on an RAF refueling flight over the North Sea.
All proceeds from the event go towards Southrop Village Hall and School, and St. Peter’s Church..
